ABOUT MARCUS AUTISM CENTER

More children are living with autism spectrum disorder than all childhood cancers, juvenile diabetes, cystic fibrosis and muscular dystrophy combined. Marcus Autism Center is the nation’s premier center for autism clinical care and research.

MARCUS AUTISM CENTER LEADERSHIP MESSAGE

As one of the only centers in the Southeast for treatment of autism and related disorders, Marcus Autism Center offers families clinical care in diagnosis, language and learning, severe behavior and feeding disorders.

Multiple outreach programs train teachers, school leadership, physicians and families how to take care of kids with ASD in their own community.

ACCOMPLISHING MORE WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS

We educate and inspire entire school communities by building sustainable change within the community-based education systems. We train district and school staff so they can develop their own sustainable leadership and coaching teams. These teams will ultimately deliver trainings and serve as mentors for school-based personnel and families.

LEADING A ROBUST RESEARCH PROGRAM

We believe research is the key to developing better means to diagnose and treat autism. Working collaboratively with many community and national partners, Marcus Autism Center is addressing the core causes of autism by researching ways to limit their impact. We also develop new treatments, conduct studies to establish their effectiveness with a solid evidence base, and move these proven treatments out to community partners as quickly as we can.

RESEARCH AREAS

Research is organized around four central themes:

• Diagnosis and evaluation

• Causes and biological mechanisms

• Intervention and treatment

• Implementation and social policy

Within and between these themes are the center’s research cores where
you can find more information about specific research projects.
