WHY WE EXIST

Marcus Autism Center is the largest center for clinical care of autism spectrum disorder in the U.S., and one of only three Autism Centers of Excellence in the country. We conduct research into why and how autism develops by studying the different trajectory for each child, and we establish evidence for best clinical practices.
We want to make autism an issue of diversity, and not of disability.

WHAT IS AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER (ASD)?

Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects an individual’s ability to engage in reciprocal social interaction with others.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) describes autism as a group of developmental disabilities that can cause significant social, communication and behavioral challenges. Autism unfolds over the first 3 years of an individual’s life, with the most obvious signs and symptoms emerging between 2 and 3 years old.

social skills, communication and behavior.

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS?

Signs of autism often exist before the child's 2nd birthday. There are social and language milestones that are important to look for as your child grows. Early intervention is crucial.

MARCUS AUTISM CENTER PHILOSOPHY

Success is found in the little things.
At Marcus Autism Center, the little things are the big things.
